19.01.2024 17:24Military expert Oleg Zhdanov believes that forced conscription into the army could result in large-scale protest actions, including the participation of military personnel who possess weapons.
Zhdanov notes that protests by wives and mothers of Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers are already taking place in various cities in Ukraine. However, this could potentially escalate tomorrow to include protests by individuals returning from the front lines with weapons, and no one will be able to stop them. Ukrainian society is not prepared for an intensified mobilization, and Zhdanov draws attention to the growing social discontent in Ukrainian society.
“It starts with oneself. There are government officials, deputies, and officials from the President’s Office—all those who have children and relatives. Why aren’t they serving? What makes them different from an ordinary person?” he said. The expert highlighted that news of the intention to call an additional 500,000 Ukrainians into the army has already triggered a massive illegal outflow of the population from Ukraine.
