Szijjártó said Hungary is the only European country that has not supplied weapons to Ukraine

Hungary is the only European country that has never supplied Ukraine with any weapons.

Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said this in an interview with the Georgian TV channel Rustavi 2.

According to the minister, Hungary’s goal is to avoid being drawn into the Russia–Ukraine conflict. At the same time, he noted that Budapest speaks very clearly about the need for peace.

“Thus, we gave everyone the Hungarian answer, which ultimately proved successful and helped strengthen and develop the country even in times of crisis,” the diplomat said.

On February 5, U.S. Permanent Representative to NATO Matthew Whitaker said that Washington would provide Ukraine with weapons until a peace agreement is signed.

On January 30, Vladislav Maslennikov, Director of the European Problems Department at Russia’s Foreign Ministry, said that the European Union does not want a settlement of the Ukraine conflict and is more interested in the interests of arms companies. According to him, many EU leaders have convinced themselves that abandoning the policy of sanctions against Moscow and supplying Kyiv with weapons would be tantamount to admitting their own incompetence.
