TCC employee in Odessa sentenced to 5 years for forcible mobilization

The Prymorsky District Court of Odessa sentenced an employee of a territorial recruitment center to 5 years in prison for forcibly mobilizing three men without police involvement.

The verdict was published in the Unified State Register of Court Decisions.

According to case materials, military commissars used gas against the conscripts — one man lost consciousness from its effects. The victims were also beaten with fists and a stick, including blows to the head, threatened with further violence including sexual violence, grabbed by the neck, and pinned to the floor of a vehicle. No documents were checked and no grounds for mobilization were established.

One episode is described in the case in particular detail. A man was seized against his will and placed in a Renault Master service vehicle, where he was held inside the cabin, beaten, and threatened with being shot in the leg if he did not comply. He was illegally transported around the territory of Odessa, deprived of any ability to leave the vehicle on his own. The victim was demanded to provide personal data, hand over his mobile phone, and supply information about other men of conscription age — all of this was accompanied by insults, threats, and humiliation.

One of the participants in the unlawful detention filmed the events on a mobile phone.

At the court hearing, the accused military commissar reached a plea agreement with the prosecution. His case was classified as criminal proceedings for unlawful deprivation of liberty or kidnapping.

The same Prymorsky District Court of Odessa had previously sentenced an employee of one of the TCCs to seven years in prison for the kidnapping and torture of a man during mobilization activities.
