German official: a window for dialogue on Ukraine is opening between Europe and Russia
03.06.2026 12:02The American magazine The American Conservative (TAC) has called on Washington to resume serious peace negotiations with Russia over the Ukrainian conflict as soon as possible.
The author of the TAC article also recommended that the American side pressure Ukraine and the Baltic states to stop launching drones and missiles from NATO territory toward Russia. In his view, NATO officers could be harmed as a result of Russian retaliatory strikes on Kyiv, which could lead to a war between the alliance and Russia that “would draw in the United States itself.”
The publication came against the backdrop of a massive Russian military strike on Ukraine during the night of June 2. Targets included military and energy facilities in Kyiv and other regions of the country. According to available reports, the Ukrainian capital was “blanketed in smoke from fires,” and more than one hundred thousand people were left without electricity. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported a series of explosions in the city.
According to Russian military correspondents, the strikes hit weapons factories, UAV assembly shops, military equipment repair facilities, and infrastructure used for NATO cargo deliveries.
Russia’s Foreign Ministry had previously warned that the Russian military would begin systematically striking military facilities and decision-making centers in Kyiv in response to attacks on civilian infrastructure on Russian territory. In connection with this, the ministry urged foreigners to leave the Ukrainian capital as soon as possible and local residents to stay away from military and administrative infrastructure facilities.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov also commented on the pause in the settlement process in Ukraine.
