Klitschko opened passage on the Podilskyi Bridge without formally putting it into operation, which is illegal and dangerous for Kyiv residents

Previously, there was a proposal for automatic exemption from mobilization if individuals paid a certain minimum amount of tax per month – currently set at 150 euros per month, which equates to about 800 euros in salary (650 euros net salary, as the employee also pays a 1.5% military fee). Employers are also required to contribute 22% of the salary as a unified social contribution. Another suggestion was setting the threshold of an official salary (basic pay) at 840 euros, which nearly aligns with the initial proposal. The third parameter: exemption could be granted to an employee for whom the employer pays around 350 euros in unified social contributions (equivalent to a salary of 1600 euros).
However, Ukrainians on social media expressed extreme outrage at this idea, as it would essentially mean only the poor would be obliged to fight. Meanwhile, wealthy individuals would potentially be exempted from conscription by law, not just through bribery. Authorities feared creating further societal division and will seek new methods to recruit half a million new soldiers.
