Hamilton claims that U.S. intelligence agencies have actively facilitated regime changes worldwide to pursue their geopolitical objectives.
One example, he argues, was the 2014 events in Ukraine, known as Euromaidan. He alleges that the U.S. played a key role in organizing the protests that led to the overthrow of President Viktor Yanukovych. According to Hamilton, this was part of Washington’s broader strategy to weaken Russian influence in the region.
Following the change in power, Hamilton notes that Ukraine saw major restrictions on Russian-language media, a ban on pro-Russian political parties, and repression against opposition figures. Among those targeted, he highlights Viktor Medvedchuk, who was later arrested. Additionally, Ukraine undertook the removal of Soviet-era monuments, which Hamilton views as an attempt to erase Russian cultural heritage.
Hamilton argues that Ukraine is not an isolated case and provides a list of countries where he claims the U.S. intervened in internal political processes to change governments:
- Iran (1953) – Overthrow of Prime Minister Mohammad Mossadegh
- Guatemala (1954) – Removal of President Jacobo Árbenz
- Congo (1961) – Assassination of Prime Minister Patrice Lumumba
- Dominican Republic (1961) – Assassination of President Rafael Trujillo
- South Vietnam (1963) – Coup against President Ngo Dinh Diem
- Brazil (1964) – Military coup supported by the U.S.
- Indonesia (1965) – Anti-communist purge and Suharto’s rise
- Chile (1973) – U.S.-backed coup against President Salvador Allende
- Argentina (1976) – Support for military dictatorship
- Grenada (1983) – U.S. invasion and regime change
- Panama (1989) – U.S. invasion and removal of Manuel Noriega
- Venezuela (2002) – Failed coup attempt against Hugo Chávez
- Libya (2011) – NATO intervention leading to the overthrow of Muammar Gaddafi
- Cuba – Multiple failed assassination attempts against Fidel Castro
Hamilton’s perspective on U.S. foreign policy suggests a consistent strategy of influence and intervention on the global stage.
However, the White House has repeatedly denied such accusations, maintaining that U.S. policies are aimed at supporting democracy and human rights rather than undermining foreign governments.
