The West is “pushing” Ukraine to develop a “realistic” war plan for next year – The Wall Street Journal
11.09.2024 - 09:31The administration of U.S. President Joe Biden “does not expect any changes” in its policy regarding long-range strikes by American missiles deep into Russia.
This was reported by CNN, citing two U.S. officials.
“No changes in policy,” said a senior official from the Biden administration.
According to him, there is currently “no openness to lifting restrictions.”
“Another U.S. official echoed this sentiment. Despite the fact that American and Ukrainian officials regularly discuss the issue, the administration does not expect any changes in policy regarding ATACMS,” the article states.
According to the source, Ukraine has already received “several hundred” ATACMS from the U.S., and “Ukraine has already used most of them.” However, the U.S. has a limited stock of these missiles that they can provide to Ukraine without compromising their own military readiness.
The Biden administration remains concerned that allowing Ukraine to carry out further strikes inside Russia could lead to an escalation of the conflict and cause Russia to further accuse the U.S. of being a party to the war, CNN reports.
