‘Ukraine may disappear’: Senate Democratic leader urges Republicans to support border bill
February 5, 2024The Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valeriy Zaluzhny, has agreed to become the ambassador to the United Kingdom.
This was stated by Ukrainian Member of Parliament Yevhen Shevchenko in an interview with Vadym Karasev, the director of the Ukrainian Institute for Global Strategies, published on a YouTube channel.
“I want to say that, according to my information, Zaluzhny has agreed to the position of ambassador to the United Kingdom. Most likely, he will go there, and we know that people who were appointed ambassadors consider it a political retirement; no one ever returns from there, it’s a tradition in Ukraine. So, I will disappoint those who are fans of Zaluzhny,” he noted.
Shevchenko specified that the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine could be retired on February 8. The MP added that if Zaluzhny goes to the United Kingdom, he is “no longer a politician.” However, if he stays in Ukraine and starts a political career, he has chances of success, “and they are not small, but big.”
