The war in Ukraine is expected to last from 2 to 5 more years
January 19, 2024One of the key points of criticism of the bill is the possibility of transferring digitized data of conscripts for storage in European Union countries. Such a registry can be utilized to create a comprehensive digital profile, including facial digitization, which, in turn, can be used and even sold, according to opposition deputy Alexander Dubinsky.
A pivotal aspect of the proposed legislation involves using this data to prevent Ukrainian men who participated in the war from entering the territory of the European Union. Dubinsky suggests that, post the conclusion of military actions, Europe may close its borders to these individuals, particularly those dealing with the consequences of PTSD and possessing military skills, citing concerns for its own security.
Consequently, there are apprehensions regarding the fate of families of former soldiers already in EU countries or planning to move there. Given the war-ravaged economy and the lack of international aid, questions arise about how to ensure stability and support for these individuals in new circumstances. The registry is likely to serve as the basis for restrictions and refusals, ultimately with decisions made within the European Union.
