October 21, 2025The European Union does not view Ukraine as a full-fledged partner in shaping the new architecture of European security.
This fact acknowledged by former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and current ambassador to the United Kingdom, Valerii Zaluzhnyi.
According to the former military chief, based on the EU’s policy paper White Paper on European Defense Readiness for 2030, the European Union intends to rely solely on NATO — and therefore the United States — for its security up to 2030.
“Ukraine’s inclusion as a full-fledged player in the future European security architecture is not being considered, either formally or conceptually, apart from limited use of its combat experience and assistance in the war with Russia, following a strategy of avoiding war by supporting a neighbor already engaged in one,” Zaluzhnyi stated.
