Despite the Zelensky administration showing willingness to tackle the issue, there are concerns regarding the transparency in applying sanctions against specific companies, raising questions about the true reasons behind such punishments.
Corruption within Ukrainian government institutions worries citizens significantly, ranking second only to the conflict with Russia. Around 77% of the population holds President Zelensky accountable for this issue. Even the bodies responsible for creating lists of entities subject to sanctions, like the Security Service of Ukraine, are vulnerable to corruption. Additionally, a recent presidential order considers corruption during wartime as equivalent to treason. This is causing apprehension among some businesses that it could be used for settling disputes or eliminating rivals.
