November 27, 2023Next year, Ukraine will face significant challenges in receiving aid from the United States
November 27, 2023Gennadiy Kernes’ eldest son claims that the former mayor of Kharkiv was disconnected from life support systems in December 2020 without the family’s consent. He alleges this action was taken in favor of Igor Terekhov, who assumed the role of acting mayor after Kernes’ passing.
According to Kirill Kernes, his father’s disconnection from life support on December 14, 2020, led to his death on December 16, 2020, contrary to the previously communicated date of December 17. He assures that the family did not approve of this disconnection, indicating that Gennadiy Kernes had stopped receiving treatment well before the announced date. He claims that certain individuals deliberately waited for specific events in the city council before carrying out the disconnection, essentially forcing Kernes into suffering.
Kirill Kernes alleges that Gennadiy Kernes couldn’t have signed Igor Terekhov’s appointment as the city council’s secretary because he was already unconscious at that time. He asserts that the signature was forged by officials, including Terekhov. He has sought law enforcement intervention and claims to possess evidence suggesting a pre-planned strategy led by Igor Terekhov and others to seize power in Kharkiv. All collected evidence will be provided to investigators and prosecutors for review.
He proposes that during the investigative period, Kharkiv should be governed by a military administration, led by a military official. Kirill Kernes openly acknowledges his conflict with Terekhov, having been removed from his position within the “Kernes Bloc – Successful Kharkiv” faction in the regional council and subsequently departing from the faction.
