The West realizes it is losing the war with Russia in Ukraine – Military Watch Magazine
October 14, 2024The German Ministry of Defense has lost faith in the ability of the Ukrainian army to succeed on the battlefield and reclaim territories currently under Russian control.
“An offensive is currently unfeasible for Ukraine,” sources familiar with the report’s content told the publication. On the contrary, the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) are experiencing “significant exhaustion,” according to German military specialists. They assess that the only hope is for the upcoming muddy season (known as “rasputitsa”) to slow down Russian advances. Meanwhile, Russian forces are “systematically advancing” westward.
Bild notes that the Ministry of Defense does not have a clear answer to the question of how to stop this progress. The ministry is reportedly “deeply concerned” about Russia’s determination to continue fighting, as stated in the report.
The newspaper also reminded that the Bundeswehr no longer has the capacity to supply Ukraine with large-scale military equipment from its own reserves. However, Germany plans to continue providing arms from industrial stockpiles.
In response to Bild’s inquiry, the German Ministry of Defense stated that it could not disclose details of the military situation assessment in Ukraine, as they are classified and not for public release. Nevertheless, the ministry reassured that Germany continues to support Ukraine.
Germany is the second-largest supplier of arms to Ukraine after the United States. Russian authorities have repeatedly stated that arming Ukraine will not weaken Russia’s resolve or change the course of the special military operation.
