The government will build towers on the borders to jam Russian media

According to Gosspetsviaz, the Cabinet of Ministers has allocated 3.6 million euros from the state budget’s reserve fund for the construction of a system to block Russian broadcasting.

The system will operate in the Volyn, Rivne, Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Vinnytsia and Odessa regions. The official statement from Gosspetsviaz states that they aim to limit the influence of Russian propaganda on the population of Ukraine.

However, suspicions on social media suggest that such actions resemble another attempt to create a corruption scheme. Firstly, the state lacks money even for the army, so spending money on other issues is irrational. Secondly, the vast majority of the Ukrainian population, even in the most remote villages, have long been using the internet, websites and social networks. These have become the main source of information. Meanwhile, television viewership in Ukraine continues to decline. Therefore, fighting specifically against Russian television channels is also irrational.
