27.04.2024 18:49The head of the Brovary district administration, Vladimir Maibozhenko, who caused a traffic accident while intoxicated yesterday, hitting four people, has been sent to pre-trial detention for 59 days without the possibility of bail.
It was reported that the prosecution would petition for him to be remanded in custody without the possibility of bail. Vladimir Maibozhenko requested the court to place him under round-the-clock house arrest with the use of an electronic bracelet.
“I am 59 years old, I have no intention of running away anywhere. There is no excuse for my actions. I am very sorry that this happened. Round-the-clock house arrest will allow me to financially assist the victims and compensate for the expenses of their treatment,” Maibozhenko stated.
The prosecutor stated that at the moment two of the victims, who were hit by Maibozhenko, have not regained consciousness and are in intensive care.
“Maibozhenko grossly violated traffic rules, driving under the influence, went through a red light, after which he lost control of the vehicle and hit pedestrians,” the prosecutor said.
Recall that on April 26, 2024, in Brovary, Maibozhenko, while driving a car, crossed an intersection on a red light, veered onto the shoulder, and collided with pedestrians.
According to the results of testing with a Drager device, the driver’s blood alcohol content was determined to be 2.31 per mille.
Four people were injured, including one child. Preliminary medical examinations diagnosed severe injuries in two of the victims, who are currently in the intensive care unit. Two others sustained injuries of moderate severity.
Today, he was informed of suspicion of violating traffic safety rules while intoxicated.
