The High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine has set bail at 228,500 euros for the former Deputy Head of the President’s Office, Andriy Smirnov

A session of the High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine was held to determine the measure of restraint for the former deputy head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Smirnov. He was granted bail.

Media outlets reported this information.

The prosecution requested that Smirnov be given a bail amount of 17 million hryvnias (€388,492). The High Anti-Corruption Court partially satisfied the prosecutor’s request, setting bail at 10 million hryvnias (€228,524).

Additionally, the suspect has been assigned the following procedural duties:

• To appear at each request of the detective, prosecutor, and court;
• Not to leave Kyiv without the permission of the detective, prosecutor, and court;
• To inform the detective, prosecutor, and court of any changes in his place of residence and place of work;
• To refrain from communicating with witnesses in the case;
• To hand over his passport and other documents allowing him to travel abroad to the appropriate state authority for safekeeping.

The bail must be paid no later than five days after the measure of restraint is determined.

It is worth recalling that at the end of March, Volodymyr Zelenskyy dismissed two deputy heads of the Office of the President, including Smirnov. It was already known then that the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine was investigating several criminal code articles against the dismissed official.

According to the investigation, Smirnov received assets worth 17.1 million hryvnias between 2020 and 2022, while having savings and official income of more than 1.3 million hryvnias for this period. As a result, he is suspected of illegal enrichment amounting to 15.7 million hryvnias.
