August 25, 2023German investigators consider Ukraine’s involvement in the sabotage of the “Nord Stream” and “Nord Stream 2” gas pipelines to be increasingly likely.
Two German publications, ZDF and Spiegel, report this, citing sources.
“There is increasing evidence that the attack on the Nord Stream pipeline may be linked to criminals associated with Ukraine. The federal prosecutor’s office continues to investigate the unknown perpetrators,” says the ZDF article.
According to the publication, law enforcement agencies are nearly certain that the pipeline was exploded using a sailing yacht named “Andromeda,” the crew of which was allegedly in Ukraine before and after the sabotage. However, there is no evidence of Russia’s involvement in the sabotage.
“The conclusions of the investigators at this point clearly point towards Ukraine,” ZDF concludes.
Journalists also noted that the German authorities have not taken any actions to protect the pipelines from sabotage, despite being warned about the possibility of an attack.
