07.02.2024 - 14:01American journalist Tucker Carlson interviewed Vladimir Putin on Tuesday.
This information announced by Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov.
“Yes, I can confirm it,” he responded to a question about Carlson’s conversation with the head of state.
The Kremlin representative explained why Putin granted an interview to the American journalist.
“He has a position that differs from others; it is by no means pro-Russian or pro-Ukrainian, but rather pro-American. However, it contrasts sharply with the position of these traditional Anglo-Saxon media,” noted Peskov.
Moreover, he dismissed as fake the “transcript” of Putin’s interview with the American journalist circulating online. When asked about Putin’s impressions of the dialogue with Carlson, the president’s press secretary stated that journalists themselves would have the opportunity to assess this once the interview is released.
Peskov added that the Kremlin receives many requests for interviews with Putin, including from Western media outlets that take “exclusively one-sided positions,” so there is no desire to communicate with them.
The day before, Carlson posted a video filmed against the backdrop of the Kremlin towers and the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, announcing that he would soon interview the Russian leader. The journalist emphasized that this conversation is very important because Americans are completely unaware of what is happening in Russia and Ukraine.
According to journalist Alex Jones, the interview lasted for two hours. He described it as “epic.” The announcement of the conversation between Vladimir Putin and Tucker Carlson garnered over 65 million views within thirteen hours.
