10.02.2026 13:20A breakthrough in negotiations to end the war in Ukraine is possible only if the positions agreed at the Anchorage meeting are observed.
This was stated by Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov.
“A breakthrough on Ukraine is possible only if the understandings reached (during the talks — ed.) in Anchorage are observed,” the Russian president’s spokesperson said.
At the same time, he noted that the Kremlin does not want to discuss the details of the agreements publicly, claiming that talks on ending the war in Ukraine should be conducted behind closed doors.
At the end of January, it became known that Russia wants any potential peace agreement with Ukraine to be based on the so-called “Anchorage formula.” In particular, this initiative предусматривает territorial concessions by Ukraine, including Russia establishing control over the entire Donbas.
The Russians claim that such ideas were allegedly already agreed upon at a meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin in Anchorage, Alaska.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the United States is proposing that the sides end the war before the start of summer and may exert diplomatic pressure in line with that timetable.
At the same time, Ukraine does not agree to a rapid signing of a ceasefire. Kyiv insists that the key element of any agreements to end the war must be security guarantees, and that they should be signed before any other documents.
