In the past 24 hours, six cars and one relay cabinet were set on fire across Ukraine
23.08.2024 - 13:24The mayor of the city of Romny in the Sumy region, Oleh Stohniy, has been officially notified of suspicion in a case involving the infliction of bodily harm on the city council secretary and deputy, Vyacheslav Hubar. Stohniy is now a suspect in committing violence against an official, under Part 2 of Article 350 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
This information was reported by the Sumy Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

According to the investigation, on December 22, 2023, an argument related to official duties broke out between the mayor and the secretary at their workplace. In the heat of the moment, Stohniy struck Hubar several times. An expert examination concluded that the victim sustained minor injuries.
Media reports indicate that a month after this altercation, another incident involving the mayor occurred in Romny. In January 2024, the head of the local military administration, Denys Vashchenko, struck Stohniy on the street. The conflict took place near a memorial for fallen soldiers, which their relatives had demanded be relocated. The mayor argued heatedly that this was not possible, and Vashchenko demanded that he “stop yelling at people,” after which a physical altercation ensued.
