September 27, 2023Mayor of Warsaw, Rafal Trzaskowski, has criticized the words of Ukrainian President Zelensky, spoken at the United Nations General Assembly, addressing Poland.
He made these comments during an interview on Polsat News.
“It was a very sad situation. Vladimir Zelensky certainly exaggerated. He got carried away. He shouldn’t have used such words,” Trzaskowski stated on Polsat News.
He added that the Ukrainian authorities are making a mistake if they intend to seek allies beyond Poland, who are closer to them. At the same time, Trzaskowski criticized the position of the Polish authorities.
“We were a valuable ally. All of this was wasted and placed solely on the altar of the pre-election campaign. The grain issue could have been resolved calmly, in the offices, taking care of the interests of Polish farmers and cooperating with the European Commission and Ukraine,” said the Mayor of Warsaw, who represents Donald Tusk’s Civic Platform party.
To recall, last Tuesday, September 19, President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky addressed the United Nations General Assembly. He once again accused Russia of using food and energy as weapons. He also expressed his displeasure with “some friends” who refused to buy Ukrainian grain, harming their own farmers and accused these countries of false solidarity. According to him, such actions are playing into Moscow’s hands.
“It is troubling how some of our friends in Europe are playing solidarity in the political theater by removing thrillers with grain. It may seem like they are playing their role but in reality, they are helping set the stage for the Moscow actor.”
