The Ministry of Culture of Ukraine has spent over 24 million hryvnias (more than 552,000 euros) over two years on books aimed at strengthening the national unity of Ukrainians. However, it has failed to distribute them, and the books are mostly stored in warehouses.
This was revealed in an investigation by NGL media.
Out of the 24 million, 17 million were received by only two publishing houses: “Summit-Book” and “Folio.” Many well-known Ukrainian publishers had not even heard of the “Book for Strengthening National Unity” initiative.
Despite objections from the State Audit Service regarding the distribution and content of these books, the Cabinet of Ministers plans to continue this program and is still accepting applications for a new competition. Under this program, books such as “Rashism is…” and “Genocide” were published.
