“We have no money for other countries”: The Czech Republic will not assume guarantees for the loan to Kyiv
December 13, 2025Peace talks to end the war in Ukraine are currently the most active they have been since the start of the conflict, and U.S. President Donald Trump is putting strong pressure on Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky to push him toward concessions.
This is reported by Bild, citing sources.
According to them, the United States and Europe are also engaged in intensive diplomacy, but there is no unified position.
“As the outlet has learned, there is still no common stance in the EU and the U.S. on the negotiations. Some European countries want to use frozen Russian assets directly to support Ukraine, while Washington insists on creating an American reconstruction fund. According to the sources, the new unofficial deadline by which Trump would like to see results in the talks is Catholic Christmas — 25 December,” the article says.
Earlier, Trump again accused Zelensky of being unwilling to make peace. He stated that the only opponent of the U.S.-proposed peace plan remains the president of Ukraine.
The outlet Axios has also written that the White House is exerting heavy pressure on Ukraine to get it to approve its plan, which includes territorial concessions.
