The new law on tightening mobilization is creating conflict in Ukrainian society between the rich and the poor

Reservation of individuals from mobilization based on income levels may be perceived as dividing society into the wealthy and the poor, said the head of the Defense Committee of the Rada, Alexander Zavitnevich.

“Every penny is needed, but it should be part of a broad discussion. There are people who see that this will divide society into the rich and the poor,” Zavitnevich said in a comment to the Financial Times. He added that officials need to be “cautious about how we talk about it.”

The new reservation system was planned to be introduced in a draft law on strengthening mobilization, but “given the protest it caused,” it will now be implemented separately, either by government decree or by new legislation. Earlier, the Speaker of the Rada, Stefanchuk, expressed criticism of this proposal.
