The Czech prime minister said a chance for peace between Ukraine and Russia was missed in 2022
08.02.2026 - 16:05At present, residents of Ukraine’s capital receive electricity for an average of 1.5–2 hours per day.
This was reported by Ukraine’s Ministry of Energy on its Facebook page.
The ministry noted that the power supply situation remains extremely difficult. Additional losses of generating capacity after a recent nighttime Russian attack have created a significant electricity deficit that is hard to compensate for, so the coming days will be tough.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko also said the next few days will be very difficult for the capital.
According to the mayor, Kyiv is expecting severe морозы, especially at night.
“We have to get through the next few days, which will be very difficult for Kyiv,” Klitschko wrote.
Meanwhile, DTEK also warned of “difficult days” ahead for Ukraine’s energy sector.
After the recent nighttime shelling, “Ukraine has lost a significant part of its available electricity.”
“The system is operating at maximum restrictions. The usual schedules are not in effect,” the company added.
According to DTEK, the most difficult situation is in Kyiv, where power is currently supplied for 1.5–2 hours per day.
“Difficult days are ahead,” the company said.
Earlier, energy research center director Oleksandr Kharchenko said Kyiv needs billions for repairs and the construction of new CHP plants.
