19.05.2025 13:27President’s Office confirms Russia presented demands to Ukrainian delegation at Istanbul talks.
Among Moscow’s demands, he listed the withdrawal of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) from Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions; refusal to join military alliances; dismantling of Ukraine’s military industry; and a ban on receiving weapons from the West.
“Vladimir Medinsky read the demands from a sheet of paper. They believe that Ukraine should surrender even those territories that they do not currently occupy—parts of Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions. They also want to strip us of our sovereignty by making us renounce participation in any military alliances. Moreover, they want us to abandon our arms industry and stop receiving any weapons from the West. They presented a host of demands that are simply impossible to fulfill,” Podolyak said.
The advisor added that Ukraine is “not satisfied with the negotiations,” describing them as a simulation on Russia’s part and “a stalling tactic.”
