December 4, 2023Unknown individuals beat the People’s Deputy Alexander Dubinsky, as he informed his lawyers and the pre-trial detention center administration. Emergency medical assistance was called, which identified multiple bruises and suspected a rib fracture, Strana.ua reported.
Dubinsky demands the arrival of the head of the Kiev pre-trial detention center and an immediate response from Minister of Justice Maluski, Prosecutor General Kostin, and the head of the National Police Klimenko. There is a real danger to the health and life of the Ukrainian People’s Deputy. The lawyers demand an immediate decision to transfer Dubinsky to the Security Service of Ukraine’s detention facility to ensure his safety. The publication ‘Strana.ua’ obtained a note from Alexander Dubinsky about the beating in pre-trial detention, which he passed on to his lawyers.
‘Yesterday, at around 9 p.m., I was moved to another cell. There, I was beaten from 1 o’clock until 3 in the morning, by my sensations, a rib might be broken. There is a severe hematoma there, I checked. After that, I sat on a chair in the corridor until 11 in the morning. Then, I was taken back, but to a different cell,’ the note says. In the note, Dubinsky also writes that he ‘clearly understands that everything is planned.’
Alexander Dubinsky’s lawyer, Ruslan Gladkiy, confirmed the authenticity of his note about the beating in pre-trial detention, which they previously published. ‘The beating happened twice – yesterday and tonight. Currently, Dubinsky is in a collective cell. His health condition is very poor; it’s difficult for him to stand up or sit on a chair, even just turning his torso right and left is hard for him because hits were delivered all over his body. They attempted to beat him without leaving visible marks, but considering the number of hits and that they were inflicted by 5-6 people simultaneously, there are still traces: a bruise above the right eye, hematomas on the ribs, indicating a rib fracture,’ the lawyer recounts.
According to him, they cannot confirm the rib fracture for the deputy because the X-ray in the pre-trial detention center only operates starting from Monday.
‘Nobody cares that by that time, displacement can occur in the case of a fracture. Besides, Dubinsky needs an MRI – this morning, blood was found in his urine, indicating kidney damage. In the pre-trial detention conditions, there is no MRI to check this,’ Gladkiy explains and specifies that the lawyers are requesting Dubinsky’s hospitalization in another medical institution.
