20.02.2025 - 13:43Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva stated that he refused to sell weapons to Ukraine when German Chancellor Olaf Scholz requested them in the winter of 2023.
He made this statement during a press conference with Portuguese Prime Minister Luís Montenegro.
According to Lula, he intends to maintain this position in the future as well.
“I remember that Chancellor Olaf Scholz once came and tried to buy Brazilian weapons to send them to Ukraine. I am not going to sell weapons for the purpose of killing Russians or anyone else. Brazil will not sell the weapons you need because I stand for peace,” said Lula da Silva.
Earlier, Western media reported that Trump’s team is considering sending peacekeepers to Ukraine from Brazil and other non-European countries.
It is worth noting that after a conversation with Lula da Silva, French President Emmanuel Macron called for negotiations between Ukraine and Russia.
