Ukraine wants to bring in foreign workers for construction because of a critical labor shortage
28.04.2026 08:02Estonian President Alar Karis said that Europe made a mistake in 2022 by not “forcing” Russia to sit down at the negotiating table after the Battle of Kyiv.
His remarks were cited by Yle.
According to him, relations with Moscow will remain difficult for a long time. At the same time, he allowed for the possibility of changes in relations between Russia and Europe.
“The European Union has invested a great deal in Ukraine. We must have our own plans regarding Russia. These plans need to start being developed right now, because processes in the EU take a long time,” Karis said.
Earlier, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russia and European countries will one way or another have to build relations, since geographically they are not going anywhere from each other. According to the Kremlin representative, the sides need to agree on how to live going forward. At the same time, Peskov noted that the previous relationship between Russia and Europe will no longer exist — it will have to be rebuilt on new foundations.
