08.07.2024 - 10:26On Monday, July 8, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán flew to China. The Hungarian politician will discuss achieving peace in Ukraine with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Orbán announced this on his social media page on X.
“China is a key force in creating conditions for peace in the Russia-Ukraine war. That is why I came to meet Xi Jinping in Beijing, just two months after his official visit to Budapest,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, Xi Jinping expressed support for Hungary’s position on Ukraine.
“The main directions of efforts by China and Hungary on Ukraine coincide. The earliest possible ceasefire in Ukraine and the search for a political solution in the interests of all parties,” said the Chinese leader.
Recently, the Hungarian Prime Minister visited Kyiv and Moscow, where he discussed the parameters of a peaceful settlement and proposed a ceasefire.
It is worth recalling that earlier, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán announced a “surprise” for Monday, July 8, mentioning an unnamed trip location. Subsequently, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó announced upcoming peace initiatives regarding Ukraine.
