The Russian military has taken control of a city where combat has persisted since 2014

According to BILD’s military analyst Julian Röpke, the Russian armed forces have successfully seized Maryinka. This city is positioned near Donetsk and lies south of another intense battleground, Avdiivka.

He stated, “Following 20 months of relentless assaults, the Russian military has gained complete control over the city of Maryinka in the Donetsk region. The remaining Ukrainian defenders have been expelled from what was once a peaceful city housing 10,700 residents, now reduced to rubble.”

Previously, Russian military channels had announced the progress of their forces toward the western fringes of Maryinka in the Donetsk region. Some Telegram channels claimed the complete capture of Maryinka, while others indicated ongoing skirmishes on the city’s outskirts. Ukraine hasn’t offered any comments or validation on this matter. The Russian Ministry of Defense has yet to issue any statements concerning Maryinka.
