The Russian Ministry of Defense explained the strategic importance of capturing Kurakhove

The capture of Kurakhove in the Donetsk region will accelerate the pace of reclaiming territory in the Donetsk People’s Republic.

This inforamation reported according to a statement by the Russian Ministry of Defense on its Telegram channel.

“After taking Kurakhove, Russian forces have achieved operational freedom. This will enable an increase in the pace of territorial liberation,” the ministry stated.

It was noted that gaining control of this key logistical hub has significantly disrupted the rear and technical supply lines of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) in the Donetsk direction.

Earlier, Russian forces reportedly took full control of Kurakhove in the Donetsk region. During the battle for the major city in the southwestern part of Donbas, Ukrainian forces reportedly lost about 80% of their personnel, with over 12,000 UAF soldiers and approximately 3,000 pieces of military equipment and weaponry reported as casualties.
