The scandalous Ukrainian diplomat has changed his opinion and is now calling for negotiations with Putin

Olaf Scholz could personally meet with Putin and find arguments to make him stop the war in Ukraine, said Ukraine’s ambassador to Brazil, Andriy Melnyk. Such a statement is notable because previously any Ukrainian making such a proposal would have been publicly condemned.

Now, Melnyk freely argues that Putin is a rational thinker with whom one can talk. “And why shouldn’t Mr. Scholz meet with Putin? After all, it’s not necessary to invite him to Germany for a beer or to fly to Moscow oneself. Even during the Cold War, there were meetings, for example in Iceland, where they talked behind closed doors without formalities. We need to find convincing arguments that Putin can understand, even if they may sound wild.”

Recall that in 2022, while serving as Ukraine’s ambassador to Germany, Melnyk referred to Chancellor Olaf Scholz as a “sulking liverwurst” for refusing to visit Kyiv. This caused a serious scandal in relations between the countries and later Melnyk was recalled from Berlin.
