March 12, 2024The withdrawal of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from Avdiivka and the struggle to prevent further territorial losses in recent weeks have exposed the erosion of Ukraine’s military potential amid reduced access to external military assistance.
This was stated by the Director of National Intelligence of the United States, Avril Haines, during hearings in the Senate Intelligence Committee.
According to her, Russia is increasingly gaining an advantage in Ukraine, with its military industry expanding production.
“This impasse plays into Russia’s strategic advantage and increasingly shifts the situation in Moscow’s favor. Russia’s defense industry is significantly increasing production of long-range strike weapons, artillery ammunition, and other armaments that allow, if necessary, to sustain a prolonged and intensive war,” Haines said.
The official added that since the end of 2023, Russia has been achieving consistent successes on the battlefield in Ukraine, partly due to the looming uncertainty regarding future military assistance from Western countries.
