September 15, 2023The state budget project for Ukraine in 2024 does not include expenditures for elections next year.
This information reported by MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak.
He interprets this omission as a sign that there won’t be any elections next year. He pointed out that during the 2019 elections, the budget for the Central Election Commission (CEC) was 4 billion UAH.
It’s worth noting that budgets can be amended throughout the year. Previously, President Volodymyr Zelensky had mentioned that one condition for holding elections would be the allocation of $5 billion by Western partners. Therefore, it’s too early to definitively say that there won’t be elections next year.
The government has already approved the budget project for 2024, with over half of the expenditures allocated to the defense sector. The minimum wage will increase to 7,100 UAH from January 1, 2024, and then to 8,000 UAH from April 1, 2024. The minimum subsistence level per person per month will be 2,920 UAH starting from January 1.
