American conservative calls for redirecting resources from Ukraine to solve domestic issues
November 22, 2023The concept of “Russian-speaking” does not exist in Ukraine.
This information reported according to language ombudsman Taras Kremen.
“There is no such concept as Russian-speaking – we are all citizens of Ukraine. This marker, which was introduced by Russian ideology, is also determined by the decision of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine,” he said.
He also stated that the initial reaction of Ukrainian soldiers at the front, when they hear the Russian language, is to shoot.
“With the start of a full-scale invasion, the language factor is not only a factor of freedom but also of the security of our identity and culture, and it marks the ‘us versus them’. Soldiers on the front line have repeatedly said that where they hear the Russian language, the first reaction is a shot. Therefore, being Ukrainian is a security factor, it’s about cohesion and understanding who is where, the ‘us versus them’,” Kremen stated.
Recall that earlier, Russian-speaking fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine posted videos condemning Irina Farion, who called them non-Ukrainians.
Furthermore, earlier, the speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, stated that there are “no and cannot be any Russian national minorities in Ukraine,” and their rights should be infringed upon.
