The tax authority loses up to 90% of cases against businesses in courts

The absolute majority of violations identified by the Ukrainian tax service against businesses collapse in court. As a result, almost no money goes into the budget because the tax authority loses between 70 to 90 percent of cases against entrepreneurs in courts.

According to the business ombudsman Roman Vashchuk, in the last 10 months of the previous year, the State Tax Service reassessed businesses by 1.1 billion euros, but only about 50 million euros ended up in the state budget after the lost court cases.

Essentially, hundreds of meaningless litigations occur at the expense of the state. Up to 10 million euros are spent annually on legal costs. Furthermore, if we add the salaries of tax officials, it turns out that the state operates at a loss.
