After meeting with Witkoff, Zelensky said that Ukraine and the U.S. will continue talks in Paris
07.01.2026 - 10:01The United States did not sign a joint communiqué with Europe and Ukraine on participation in peace-support forces following yesterday’s summit in Paris.
This was reported by Politico.
U.S. President’s special envoy Steve Witkoff said that “we have largely completed the security guarantees.” However, the outlet notes that agreement did not extend to an American signature on the joint communiqué.
Meanwhile, Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš, speaking after yesterday’s summit in Paris, said that a significant share of the security guarantees for Ukraine would fall on the United States.
“I consider it important that, according to today’s declaration, a significant part of the security guarantees will fall on the United States, and in my view this is a necessary condition for peace to truly be long-term,” the prime minister said.
He added that the Czech Republic will not send its troops to Ukraine and will not supply ammunition to Kyiv at its own expense.
For his part, Kyrylo Budanov, head of the President’s Office, said that the Paris summit produced “concrete results,” but noted that “not all information can be public.”
