20.10.2025 07:01Washington has increased pressure on Kyiv ahead of the upcoming Russia–U.S. summit in Budapest.
This was reported by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ).
“Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky left the White House after his meeting with Trump on Friday without any commitments from the United States to provide long-range Tomahawk missiles,” the publication stated.
According to the newspaper, the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump is exercising caution toward Moscow. Former U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for European Affairs Daniel Fried noted that Washington is deliberately refraining from using available tools to increase economic and military pressure.
On October 16, Trump held a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, during which, according to the U.S. president, “significant progress” was made. The two leaders agreed first to organize a meeting between their foreign ministers, followed by a personal summit in the Hungarian capital.
