“Why can’t the Royal Air Force shoot down drones over Ukraine, as they do with Israel?”
This was the question posed by LBC journalist to the UK Foreign Secretary David Cameron.
“I think the complexity of what you’re suggesting is that if you want to avoid escalation in terms of a wider European conflict, I think you should avoid direct engagement of NATO forces with Russian forces. That could escalate the situation,” replied the minister.
He added that using aircraft “is not necessarily the best way to shoot down missiles and drones; air defense systems are more effective.” And for Ukraine, it is more important to have access to air defense systems, particularly the Patriot system.
