“The most dangerous man in power”: Zelensky’s former press secretary Yuliya Mendel admitted she is afraid of Yermak
03.12.2025 - 12:02The Russian army has captured Pokrovsk in Donetsk region, while Ukrainian forces still remain in the neighboring town of Myrnohrad.
This was reported by the German tabloid Bild.
“For Ukraine, the loss of Pokrovsk is yet another painful defeat in the propaganda war against Russia. It proves that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are not able to stop Russia’s advance, only to slow it down. From a strategic point of view, this former transport hub no longer had significance for Kyiv, since all roads into and out of Pokrovsk are either destroyed, blocked by drones, or lead to territory occupied by Russia,” writes the paper’s military observer Julian Röpcke.
According to the article, for Russia Pokrovsk may become a bridgehead for further advances westward toward Dnipropetrovsk region. But overall, in Röpcke’s view, the capture of Pokrovsk is unlikely to have a major impact on the war for the rest of Donbas. The two remaining large cities here under Ukrainian control — Sloviansk and Kramatorsk — lie more than 50 kilometers away, and the battle for them has not yet begun.
It should be noted that Ukraine denies the loss of Pokrovsk, stating that it still controls areas in the northern part of the city. On the DeepState map, the city is shown as almost entirely under Russian control or in a grey zone, but there are also sections still held by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
NATO believes that the Russian army controls 95% of Pokrovsk.
Earlier today, a military expert said that the situation for Ukraine on the Huliaipole axis looks more threatening than near Pokrovsk.
