11.09.2024 16:06Ukraine has already used the majority of the American ATACMS tactical missiles it was provided with, and the U.S. is unable to continuously replenish Kyiv’s stock due to the limited quantity of these missiles.
This was reported by CNN, citing two senior officials.
According to the channel, the Biden administration does not intend to change its policy regarding the use of American long-range missiles on Russian territory. One White House representative stated that, despite consultations with allies and repeated requests from Zelensky, the administration does not expect any changes on this issue. Additionally, the U.S. has already provided Kyiv with a significant number of ATACMS missiles, which have almost run out. New deliveries are excluded due to limited U.S. reserves of these missiles.
“Although American and Ukrainian officials regularly discuss this issue, the administration does not expect any changes in the ATACMS policy,” CNN quotes the official.
The White House remains concerned that allowing the use of American missiles could escalate the conflict.
However, Washington does not rule out the possibility that the U.S. will approve Kyiv’s use of British Storm Shadow cruise missiles after negotiations between Biden and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
Earlier, London had stated that the use of British missiles against Russia would require Washington’s approval.
