Ukrainians lose limbs due to war, yet lack support

November 15, 2023The Russian military receives three times more tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, self-propelled artillery and other equipment per month compared to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, according to ukrainian journalist Vladimir Datsenko.
According to this information, over the past 10 months of the war, the Ukrainian Armed Forces received around 28 tanks per month, while Russia obtained 100. For infantry fighting vehicles and armored personnel carriers, Ukraine received about 35 units, while Russia received 100. Ukraine acquired seven self-propelled artillery units versus Russia’s 50. Conventional artillery consisted of 13 units for Ukraine compared to over 200 for Russia.
Ukraine has ceased to receive multiple rocket launcher systems (RSZO), while Russia receives more than 23 units monthly. In terms of missiles, Ukraine receives dozens, while Russia produces over 2,000. The superiority in ammunition supplies is more than double.
“In general, we see that Western efforts to supply heavy weaponry were much greater in the first year and peaked in January-February 2023. Further weapon deliveries to Ukraine faced two main problems: the lack of a clear strategy to support Ukraine after the start of the counter-offensive and the funding block due to internal political processes,” writes Datsenko.
The journalist notes that Ukraine loses less equipment, Western models are more effective and the lack of one type of armament can be compensated for by other capabilities, such as deep strikes that disrupt logistics. Russia’s main advantage remains dominance in the air, while Ukraine has an edge in long-range artillery.
