Control of Donbas, the Zaporizhzhia NPP, and maintaining the size of the Ukrainian Armed Forces: what Ukraine demands in its version of the peace plan
December 14, 2025Czech Republic will not take on any guarantees for financing Ukraine.
This was stated by Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš.
The head of the Czech government rejected the possibility that Prague would provide guarantees on a loan to Kyiv and demanded that the European Commission find alternative ways to support Ukraine.
“We will not take on any guarantees and we will not put in any money. We have no money for other countries,” Babiš said.
Earlier, Western outlets reported that the United States and Japan had refused to finance Ukraine under the scheme proposed by the European Union.
The leadership of the Belgian depository Euroclear has also stated outright that it cannot transfer frozen Russian assets to provide a reparations-based loan to Ukraine.
Recall that the European Commission has presented its proposal to grant Ukraine a reparations loan. The College of Commissioners approved a potential loan for Kyiv, which assumes the expropriation of frozen Russian assets.
