The UN has supported Zelensky’s desire to forcibly bring back men from abroad for military service

Ukraine has the right to demand the return of draft-age refugees, said the Director of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees in Europe, Leclerc.

“Ukraine has every right to mobilize its population. This also applies to draft-age refugees abroad. In this case, there will be a question of their status and protection,” Leclerc said. According to him, mobilization is not persecution.

It is worth recalling that millions of Ukrainian men fled the country to avoid serving in the army and participating in combat operations. In many democratic countries, such as Germany, forcing someone to fight is considered a crime. Earlier, most European countries stated that they would not deport Ukrainian men back to Ukraine.
