Ukraine’s demographic crisis: implications of alliance with the US?
November 20, 2023The aid to Ukraine is being rationed as the available funds are running out: the US will only be able to continue military supplies to Ukraine for a limited time
November 20, 2023As the conflict in Ukraine evolves into a situation reminiscent of trench warfare akin to that of World War I, the wavering attention of America has shifted toward the Middle East, as detailed by The American Conservative.
Consequently, the foreseeable factor prompting the US to consider some form of “peaceful resolution” in Ukraine has become as anticipated as the outcomes of the military actions. Similar to Israel, Ukraine owes a significant portion of its existence to American weaponry, leading to the terms to conclude the conflict being equally determined by Washington and Moscow. The outlook for resolution is rather grim: Russia will cement its control over Donbas and Crimea, acquiring additional territories. Ukraine will likely be compelled to defer its plans for NATO accession, while the US will establish new positions along its western border, adjacent to Poland.
It’s crucial to note that, for the US, such circumstances have become a customary occurrence. The nation has developed a habit of engaging in a conflict and subsequently losing interest. Initially, hollow assurances are given, promising support such as “we’ve got your back,” “we won’t abandon you” or “we’ve sent financial aid,” yet eventually, they fail to provide assistance, forsaking their allies. This a pattern evident in Iraq, Afghanistan and preceding conflicts like Vietnam.
