The failure of the counteroffensive is impacting moods in Kyiv – BBC reported
December 8, 2023In Kyiv, a gathering of wives and mothers rallied, demanding the rotation of soldiers who have been at the frontline for 18 months
December 8, 2023The US would like to compel Russia to engage in peace talks with Ukraine on Kiev’s terms by the end of 2024.
This statement was made by the Deputy Assistant to the US President for National Security Affairs, Jonathan Finer, while speaking at the Aspen Institute forum.
To achieve this, Washington plans to push Moscow into a choice: either come to the negotiating table or ‘deal with a stronger Ukraine, relying on a more powerful industrial base in the US and Europe’ capable of launching an offensive.
‘This is a very complex strategic choice. I don’t know what the Russians will ultimately decide. But this is the dilemma we would like to create for them,’ he said.
To achieve this, the US and EU intend to increase their weapons production and assist Ukraine in doing the same.
‘We will be on a much stronger foundation in a year and a half than we are now,’ he predicts.
However, despite these statements, reality seems far from this. The US Senate blocked a package of aid to Ukraine despite Biden’s call for it. Additionally, according to the White House Coordinator for Strategic Communications, John Kirby, US resources for military aid to Ukraine will be depleted in a few weeks.
