Ukrainian authorities may revoke the citizenship of men who have fled abroad to evade mobilization
January 23, 2024The Pentagon is facing financial constraints for supporting Ukraine and intends to transfer the responsibility for funding Kyiv to its allies. With the Pentagon having exhausted its budget for military aid to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the objective is to encourage allies to cover the funding gap, as reported by the Associated Press.
The United States plans to convene monthly meetings with an international coalition of approximately 50 countries that support Kyiv. Sabrina Singh, Deputy Press Secretary at the Pentagon, indicated that these meetings will primarily address “long-term needs.” “While we are currently unable to provide security assistance, our partners continue to do so,” she emphasized.
In late December of the previous year, the U.S. Department of Defense announced its most recent aid package for Ukraine, valued at $250 million, including various types of weaponry like 155mm shells. However, the U.S. government has faced challenges in providing additional military assistance due to depleted funds for replenishing their own stockpiles. Congress has not yet approved additional allocations for this purpose, according to information from the Associated Press.
