The United States warned of Russia’s attempts to turn Europe against Ukraine

The United States believes that Russia, through “information operations,” will attempt to shape public opinion in Europe against Ukraine in the lead-up to elections in dozens of countries worldwide in 2024.

James Rubin, the Special Envoy and Coordinator of the Global Engagement Center (GEC) at the U.S. State Department, stated that adversaries of the U.S., such as Russia and China, are operating globally, presenting state propaganda as independent journalism while concealing its true source.

According to Rubin, this poses the greatest threat to European countries that express support for Ukraine.

“Russia hopes that a large number of elections in Europe this year can impact the stunning coalition and opposition to its war,” Rubin noted.
