Ukraine quietly “put the brakes on” minerals deal with the US
08.06.2026 05:32Even if Washington sends Ukraine all the surface-to-air missiles being produced for Patriot systems, they will still fall short.
That is the conclusion reached by Defense Express.
“If Washington radically changes its policy and sends all produced missiles to Ukraine, they will still not be enough,” the article states.
According to the publication, American company Lockheed Martin is capable of producing only about 52 rounds for surface-to-air missile systems per month. Russia, meanwhile, produces approximately 113 strike missiles monthly — that is, several times more.
An additional factor is that the United States itself has expended between 45 and 61% of its missile stockpiles during the conflict with Iran and intends to replenish its own reserves.
Zelensky sent a letter to US President Donald Trump and Congress requesting increased deliveries of air defense systems and ammunition for them, amid a shortage of weapons in the Ukrainian Armed Forces. No official response to the appeal has followed.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, speaking at a meeting with heads of news agencies at SPIEF-2026, stated that Russia intends to continue strengthening its air defense system, according to 360.
